The Global Economy
"Global Economy" is the most sobering phrase for the future of
the planet. It is like a super, free-ranging, buccaneer battleship using
electronics as weapons. The only rule is "winner take all". It
knows no boundaries or rules and roves land and sea making profits and destroying
natural and human heritage heedlessly. It needs no windows to look out on
the plant, animal and human targets it is ravaging. All information comes
through computer screens and destruction takes place with the touch of a
button on a keyboard. And what is this global economy delivering? Its reason
for being is supposedly cheaper consumer products, so our heritage and our
future options are being sacrificed on the altar of "better shopping".
Are these inexpensive products perhaps too expensive for the planet and
its living things? Is this a good idea?
